Hello Everyone & Thank you for the warm welcome. This is my first post on the site, and I hope I'm not repeating a question that has already been answered, but here goes....
The best treatment I've found by far has been Adderall. I believe that I've been on it at the highest recommended dose for approx. 7 years now. I'm not really sure if I'm building up a tolerance to it, or if the symptoms of my other illnesses (Fibro & Chronic Fatigue) are just getting worse and that's why it seems to not work as well anymore, but over the past year my doctor and I have tried switching me to other ADD meds, but after weeks of horrible results with each, I've always ended up back on Adderall. Even when it doesn't give me optimum results, it's still far better than all of the alternatives.
Has anyone else run into a similar problem? If so, were you able to resolve it?
Thanks! That was an interesting article, I would have never thought of Magnesium, I think I'll try that!

Hi, Wendy, there is a lot of anecdotal information about Adderall tolerance on the internet, but not much authoritative information about how to help prevent tolerance. Here is one article that may be helpful, though: http://www.livestrong.com/article/548631-does-magnesium-help-reesta...
Have you ever heard of an elimination diet for ADD/ADHD ?? If not I suggest you get educated on it and you might a non-medication alternative.
I can give you a short-version of the elimination diet which as worked well for my step-son and wife. I am on most of the "diet" except for artificial colors as I have a medical reaction to the very things which cause ADD in people who are prone to such substances eliminated in the "diet".
